The headlights turned on when I turned off the ignition, and they will not go out.

Before this happened, the headlights always flashed on and off continually while the engine was running, unless I turned on the headlights, then they stayed on without flashing.

if they go off and on you have a short in system. if they will not go off then if it has auto feature turn it to off and see if they do. If not then check relays under hood fuse box. finally if still not going off with a good relays then check the switch for operation.
