My ford explorer sport trac won't start unless the headlights are turned on I bought this truck used so I don't know the history of it so any help would be appreciated thank you. Danthepianoman

The only thing I can really think of is check battery to body ground which is by the battery which could mean behind it or under it. That is where the starting system grounds by the battery. Then check engine to battery ground as well.

Add one thing here, get a dealer to run a diagnostic test using a ford in house scanner, this will show any codes and also show history codes that may be an issue here, not all codes will set a MIL light.
