I purchased an EGR valve for my car as I think it is stuck open as the car is stalling when either I first start it or when I am at a stop and the car is idling. It will start back up without a problem but it stalls at the most inappropriate times. I have no light on in the dash but when the light was on I had the codes read and I was told it was the O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2. When I replaced the O2 sensor it was totally clogged up with carbon. I just wanted to rule out the EGR valve so I purchased one. I tried to remove it on Saturday but have no way of getting to the bolts without removing the intake without air tools. Do I need to take the intake off or is there a way to get to the bolts from under the car?

Thanks

Good afternoon.

I do not see a procedure for it but I have done many of these. They are not fun.

Before you assume it is bad. Remove the hose from the valve and see if it still stalls. The back pressure unit attached to it is a more common failure.

As far as replacing it, I do remove the intake to get my hands to the back to release the bolts.
