So I think my wheel bearings may be going out. I'm not sure, but a few days ago ONLY while the car is not moving or barely moving, when I turn the wheel I get a grinding noise and the wheels seem to 'grab or skip' a bit. I do know that on the passengers side, I need to get the CV joint replaced cause about 2 weeks ago I heard the tell tail sings of the clicking noise when turning. I was wondering if the grinding noise could be the CV joint as well? I recently got a job where I drive about 50 miles round trip a day (all highway) and while the car is moving I dont get any vibration in the steering wheel (a very slight vibration that has been there since I bought the car). I have just returned to work after being out of work for almost 9 months following a car accident and I'm very short on money right now. So if you think it IS the bearings, could I do this myself (I prefer to work on my car if possible).

Hi there,

Jack up each front wheel and feel for any movement in the wheel bearings, there should be no movement, rocking wheel top & bottom, if there is movement the wheel bearings will be faulty, there are special tools required to replace the bearings, you will need a work shop with the correct tooling to do these bearings.
