Hi guys, first time posting here. I am a proud owner of the car listed above it is an e36 318i with m42 engine. I have been battling to get my central locking and alarm system working, without success. I no longer have access to the lock/unlock buttons on the remote. I do however manually unlock the front doors with this key. If locked it will then blink and give a constant red led on the center console. When I do open the boot {if not locked} hazards will flash including headlights, but no sound or buzzer. When unlocking and opening the drivers' door all the flashing stops. The rest of the doors still remains locked and do not pop up when unlocking the drivers' door.
I have been trying to isolate and troubleshoot but just cannot get to it. Please help.

Hello,

Which part do you want to work on the fact that it does not make noise or? You say I have longer have access does that mean do not have them or they do not work?

Cheers, Ken

Hi Ken, seeing that both functions are innitiated with the key I would like them to be operational. The buttons do not respond even after replacing the batteries.

The Anti-Theft Alarm Control Unit is Under right side of dash, behind glove compartment. I would remove the alarm and door module and check the connectors for corrosion. Also check the fuse f7 f35 f43.

Here is a wiring diagram of the door lock and module circuit.

Check for power and ground.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken
