Intermittent issue of shutting off while driving and losing power while driving

Car sometimes shuts off while driving and sometimes loses power while driving. what could be the problem? Oh and I put a quart of transmission fluid in it but didn't make a difference.

Hello,

When you say shuts off do you mean the engine stalls but you have electrical power or the engine shuts off and there is no lights on anywhere? If there is no electrical power I would follow this guide to help fix the problem:
