We had our car at the dealership because the pzev engines have a defect warranty, anyway they installed a new pcm an up dated one, they checked circuits and now they are saying the wiring is not covered so it still has the same problem. Ford said the plug connector that goes to the actuator for the IMRC the black blue wire that is one of the three wires suppose to have five volts only has three volts and I knew that because I tested it. They said it was a possible open circuit and they wanted $250.00 for an electrical diagnostic and I do not have the money. All the work they did was under the defects warranty, but that still did not fix it. Does any one know where I should go from here? This Focus still does not have current tags on it.

Buy the connector and either fix it yourself or have a garage mechanic put it on for you.

Hey Randy,

I would start by checking the intake running vacuum solenoid linkage and see if it moves in either direction, it could be something simple blocking it, here is a diagram for its location.

If it seems to be okay you will need to get the connector like hmac300 suggested.

Let us know how it goes.

Best, Ken
