The electrical connectors don't match up between mirror wiring and the connector at the door. The yellow/white is what the old mirror had, and the black one is what came on the new mirror, which does not fit in the connection that the yellow/white one was in. Is there an adaptor I can get?
I tried to upload a photo, but it doesn't seem to be working.

There are different connectors depending on the options in the mirrors. It sounds like the replacement mirror doesn't have the same options as the original one does. There are several mirrors for them but they are all different connectors. Option wise they had just power, power and heated, power, heated with turn signal and power, heated, turn signal with power folding.

Hope this helps illustrate the problem. In the pic with the 2 connectors, the all white one was the original connector, that fit into the receptor in the other pic. The black and white connector is what came on the new mirror, and it does not fit into the receptor. I'm positive that the new mirror is the right model for my pick up, as it matches the other mirror exactly. Ugh, I'm frustrated.

Hi,

Hang in there. We'll get it figured out. Although the mirror appears like a perfect match, something is different. As Steve mentioned, there are different options.

Do me a favor. Take a look at the pic below and let me know what your vehicle came with. I can then check out the wiring schematics and see what you should have as a replacement.

Let me know.

Joe

Where did the replacement mirror come from? It's possible it's actually for a newer model truck that uses a different harness design as well. GM likes to change things but normally if it's something like that and it's an OE part they include an adapter harness or it will include instructions for re-pinning the connectors to fit. If it's an aftermarket design then it's likely they try to use whatever connector fits most options. Can you see the wire colors on the back of the connector? Do they match the colors and pin locations?
