Replaced broken exterior handle, but rod connected to handle will not push down enough to open door. Door will open if I push down rod by hand with pliers.
I wonder if rod was bent out of shape when handle was broke? Also, a plastic clip broke which connects rod from outside handle to door latch.

Look on the back of the door for a curved slot, about an inch long by 1/4" wide. If you see that, look in there for the head of a bolt, usually an Allen-head bolt. Loosen that bolt about one revolution. Lift the exterior handle, then release it. Tighten the bolt, and the adjustment is done. That is a real easy and common fix on Chrysler products. I am hoping you have the same design.
