Lately my driver side window has started giving problems while going up only. The problem is not consistent, at times there is no problem at all but at times the problem comes and goes. My question is, is the problem more likely to be related to the switch or the regulator? It would be great to have a response from your experts who have helped me fix my car in the past. Many thanks in advance and best regards

Hi,

I am not sure if I answered one of your questions in the past but the most likely cause of this issue is the switch. Normally the regulator will bind or fail completely. When it binds, you normally can still here the motor clicking but the way to confirm this is to test for power when it is acting up. Clearly this is not the easiest thing to do but it is possible if you want to put in the effort. If you remove the door panel and access the motor plug just back probe the connector then run wires out and connect them to a multi meter and turn it on when driving the vehicle. This way when it acts up you can see if there is voltage at the motor. If not, then the switch is the issue. If you do, the regulator/motor is the issue.

However, if it were me, I would just replace the switch. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Dear Kasekenny1, Greetings and good day!

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I will change the switch as suggested by you, it makes sense to spend $10.00 for the switch which will confirm that regulator is operational or not. Thanks again and regards.

Dear Kasekenny1, Good day. I have replaced the switch and have resolved the problem. It has confirmed that switch was faulty and regulator is working fine. All it took was $11.00 and a repair time of under five minutes. Thanks a ton and best regards. CEPKS
