I put a new switch in driver side window. Switch is good so is fuses, relays, and circuit breaker. I test it for power when I probe the ground in the plug I have no power, I ground my tester to the vehicle and probe for power I have power. It's only doing it on the front windows. I probe the back windows switch and I have power. So, I'm sure I have a bad ground wire. Where would I check the other end of the ground?

Hi,

When you check ground, are you checking for continuity to ground via the black wire in connector 1? As far as power, are you getting power to the dark green wire?

As far as ground, you have me confused. Please explain what you are doing so I better understand. If it was me, I would be testing for continuity to ground. Also, I need to know if the dark green wires are getting power in both driver's and passenger's switches. They are powered by two different circuit breakers.

I attached the wiring schematic below, so you have it as a reference.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, green wire has power, but only if I connect my ground from my tester to the body of vehicle. If I put the ground from my tester to the black wire in the connector, I have no power to the green wire.

Hi,

Okay, in this case, you lost ground. That is why the light won't turn on when you use the black wire. I need you to follow the black ground wire and inspect where it attaches. If it appears to be good, you will need to replace the wire itself. I assume at some point within the wire it is broken.

Let me know what you find.

I ran a new ground like you said it fixed it. But, now I turn on my heated seat and when I turn my lights on the heated seat goes off.

Hi,

That's an interesting one. Does it happen when the parking lamps are on or do the headlamps need to be on?

Let me know.

It happens when parking lights or headlights or day time driving lights come on.

Hi,

I attached the wiring for the seats. There is one thing I am seeing that I would check and yes, it's another possible ground issue. LOL

The seats are grounded via G304. The ground is for both seats and a list of other things. Check to make sure nothing is loose. The only thing is this. I need to know if the vehicle is a base, Luxury, or an up-level model. The wiring schematics are different for the interior lighting which, at this point, is the only other thing I can think of that could be causing issues. See pic 3

If this problem is limited to one seat and not the other, then we need to check the seat module.

Let me know.

Hi,

That didn't help. There really isn't anything tying them together. Question. Is it the indicator light that turns off or is it the heater itself? Does it affect both seats?

If it is just the light, the new ground you added bypassed the indicator illumination for the seat. Looking at the seat schematic, the only thing I can see that could cause failure is the seat logic module.

I attached a pic below of the location. I'm basing this on only the driver's seat failing. If both are failing, let me know.

Take care,

Joe

The heat seat light works, it turns off the heat, and the light goes out. Also, when parking lights or headlights or DRL lights come on. It is only on the driver side, passenger side works great.

Either there is a weak ground that is shared by the interior lighting, or the module has failed.

I would like to say it's likely a ground, but the other seat works properly and isn't affected. They share the same ground, so if that were the case, both would stop.

The next problem is where to find a module. I don't feel you will be able to get a new one. Are there any salvage yards near you?

Let me know.
