Driver side temperature control clicking on full cold setting?

Hi,

The actuator is on the left side of the HVAC box under the dash. See pic 1 for location.

Pics 2 and 3 are the directions for replacing the actuator. The last pic I attached is for recalibration. The directions indicate the need for a scan tool that can communicate with the different modules, the HVAC module in this case.

Thanks. I replaced the one behind the glove box a couple years ago. I did not have a scan tool to calibrate. Are these two different in some way? Your site mentioned removing the HVAC fuse for 30 seconds, does that also work?

Hi,

They should be the same. As far as the recalibration process, try the fuse. Once you reinstall it, turn the key to the run position for approximately a minute and then off. Turn it back on and see if that worked.

While you have the key on and the fuse installed for recalibrating, don't move any of the system controls.

The manuals only show it being done with a scan tool, but this could work.

Joe,

I got on Rock Auto where I bought the actuator which was an original GM part. Their info stated no calibration is needed. I did remove the negative battery clamp just in case I touched something wrong under the dash. They don't make it easy to get that gizmo out!
Put it all back together and started the car, it all worked fine except had to reprogram time and date. Also lost radio settings but no big deal there either. Thanks for the help!
