Tell him exactly what you told me. I have a feeling it is related to the switch I mentioned because that is the only thing I see that can tie everything together.
If you have the chance, let me know what is found. I would really like to know if it is the switch.
That is frustrating to hear you just got the vehicle. I feel really confident that the prior owner knew of this problem. If you got it from a dealer, I would return it and tell them it never should have passed inspection and needs fixed at their cost. However, I don't know where you are located and what state laws deem as a requirement. Here in PA, if a vehicle is sold "as is" it still needs checked / inspected. If faults are found (and this would have been) they have to provide it in wiring to the person purchasing it.
