The driver's door is stuck closed?

I believe it's locked, will not unlock. Using the key in the door does nothing, the automatic lock can be heard running, but the door does not unlock or open. Neither door handle will open the door. Neither door handle is broken and appears to have good connections to the door lock. I'm not sure if it's possible to remove the door panel to access the lock with the door closed. I've run out of ideas.
