I was replacing the front driver side shock/strut assembly, I had rotor and hub bungied also with jack stand under but the drive axle with boot popped off. Some grease has come out. How to fix it? Ultimately, I was having a hard time getting the two main bolts from strut to axle to line up. I got the bottom one in its on blocks and stands. Any advice welcome and I will fund. Thanks, Jon

Hi,

If the CV boot has come off, you need to get a new clamp. They are made specifically for CV boots and require a special tool to properly install them

I attached a pic of one below. Is this the part that has failed?

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you, it did not fail, it was pulled off by weight of hub/rotor etc.

I'm hoping it can just be reattached, sealed. I have Lucas red n tacky grease. I had wheels turned to the right for better access, but it was hard to get everything lined back up. I did get one lower bolt in from strut to shaft etc, thankfully as it is holding things kind of.

Hi,

I understand. That can happen easily. Have you been able to get it back together? Also, did you find the clamp needed? If you have, see if the parts store will lend you the correct tool to install it properly. If you have the tool, it will be as good as new.

Take care and let me know if I can help.

Joe
