My back drivers side door will not close. It is not that the latch is stuck down because when I looked it up that seems to be all they have videos on. It closes but does not latch and stay shut. I cannot find any videos on it to help me. The door latch will move if I do it myself but none otherwise. When I shut it the door goes to where it should but just opens right back up.

Will the "grasshopper mouth parts" on the door open and close with the door in the open position while actuating the door handle and moving them (grasshopper mouth parts) with your fingers or a screwdriver?

If so, do they lock as if they were firm around the door post (door still open)?

If they remain free but appear to latch (but not locking) have you sprayed any WD-40/ or lubricant into the mechanism?
