I changed the driver door latch. figured that the driver door ajar switch went bad but it did not fix it. on the cluster it says door and flashes fuse. I can unplug the ajar switch on the driver side and the light still stays on

What makes you think it's the driver's door? It could be any door in the vehicle and you would need a professional scan tool capable of accessing the BCM to see which one is staying open.

Fixed it. Didn't need a scan tool. Took a little bit more time but got it fixed. Ended up being the driver rear door. Unplugged one door latch at a time till the light turned off. Light went out once driver rear door latch was unplugged. Replaced latch and fixed the problem.

The scan tool would have located it much easier and prevented you having to take all the doors apart to access the switch but you got there anyway in the end.
