dome light/floor lights go on and off, back and forth

I have a battery drain. The dome light and floor lights comes on, but will not turn off. When i rotate the dimmer switch in dashboard the dome light light goes off and the floor lights come on. They alternate back and forth .

These lights are switched from the ground side so either one of your door switches is stuck on or the wiring going to the switches has a short to ground somewhere. Make sure the light itself does not have a switch with off/door/on choices left in the "on" position.

i cannot understand when i turn the headlight switch to the left as i was going to turn the dome light on ,it shuts off and the floor light come on . Turn dome light know off floor lights go off dome light back on.
Thanks for your expert reply. Any ideas on this almost seems it is working in reverse?

The foot-well lights are on an entirely different circuit from the courtesy lights, although they do share a switch circuit with the courtesy lights. https://www.2carpros.com/images/external/41900311.jpg.gif
