I tried to replace my car stereo system and couldn't get it to work correctly. After I gave up, I turned my car on and had my dome and dash lights out. I didn't think my radio and internal lights were connected so I walked around my car and saw that I had a break light out. I figured if I replaced it my other lights would come back on. They did not. I still don't have my stereo hooked up. Are my internal lights connected to my stereo? If not, how do I fix them? I drive home from work at night and cannot tell how fast I'm going. Please help.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

I have a feeling I know what happened. There is a ground behind the dash the functions for the lighting/instrument lighting. There are two things I need you to check. First, take a look at picture 1. It indicates where the ground is that I am referring to. Check to make sure it isn't damaged, loose, disconnected. It will involve black wires.

If the ground is good, I need you to check the splice (242). Picture 2 shows its location. Check to see if when you were working on the radio if something was pulled or damaged.

Next, the fuse box in the vehicle center console, check fuse 2. It is a 2 amp fuse responsible for the affected lights.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe
