My power steering pump and serpentine belt went out. I had my power steering pump replaced so the leakage has stopped. However, the serpentine belt broke and I think I need to have my A/C compressor replaced.

Does my car make and model have a bypass belt? Does this sound like the A/C compressor needs to be replaced?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I have to ask why you question the compressor? Is it locked up? As far as a bypass belt, nothing is made. However, if the compressor is locked, what I suggest is an AC bypass pulley. The compressor is removed and the bypass pulley replaces it. Then the original type belt.

Let me know if this helps. By the way, these pulleys are not expensive.

Take care,
Joe

My family member was working on the car, and thought that A/C compressor might need to be replaced.

Were there symptoms that made him say that? Also, does the AC work? Does the belt squeal when the AC is turned on?

Let me know.
