2001 Dodge Van odometer reading

Vehicle has electronic digits in odo display. Am interested in buying this van. Is it possible that this reading could have been altered? In my day you could stop and even reverse the count. I know it is illegal to do that, but how can I be sure that it wasn't done with an electrical or computer devise?

I have never heard of someone ever pulling that off, so I would say its the real odometer reading
