Electrical problem
1996 Dodge Van V8 Two Wheel Drive 104500 miles

Going down the highway my check engine light came on and I lost power and the van started backfireing. I checked the exhaust and it seems to be coming out fine so I do not believe is is the timing belt. The van would go sownt the road again, but in about 5 to 10 miles it would do the same thing again. Where do I start?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
