1996 Dodge Van incorrect fuel gauge readings

Right after filling up the reading was FULL. Then after driving about 30 miles the reading was between 1/4 and Empty.
1- I want to test the sending unit. Do I have to remove the fuel tank? or is there an open slot on the floor via which I can somehow reach and remove the sending unit for testing?
Looking from underneath the tank I saw nothing.

2- Is the original fuel gauge available?

There's no short cut to the fuel pump the tank has to come down its useless testing the fuel sending unit it must be replace this is the fix
