I have a 96 Dodge Ram Van with a 5.2 liter V8. When it get to about ¼ tank of fuel, it starts to miss and a most speeds above a crawl it stalls. It will restart and usually I can get it to run enough to get it to a gas station. About 4 yrs ago the problem started at ¼ tank and progressed to ½ tank. I had the fuel pump replaced and it only lasted about a year and it started again. That pump was replaced and about a year ago it started again. For the past year I have just not let it go below ¼ tank. But the other day it stopped at ¾ tank and I couldn’t get it to run enough to get it to a gas station.

Is there a problem with this vehicle and/or engine? Any ideas what I can try?

Hi
Is pump replaced with an OEM or after market? Is sendening unit replaced with pump? Has gague been checked for accuracy? Here's the deal if tank is run low on a regular bases the pump overheats and fails prematurley. I keep 1/2 no less to assure it cools.
Ley me know
