2003 Dodge Truck rusty transmission case

Transmission problem
2003 Dodge Truck 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I know this does'nt sound like I should complain...but recently when I was under my truck I was surprised to see that the trans housing is solid rust. Is this normal ? Is the case steel and not aluminum ? . It looked like it had been in saltwater for a year. I do not live where salt is used. What is the deal?

No that isn't normal. The trans housing is aluminum. THe pan is steel. Is it possible for you to get a picture of it and upload it for me to see?
