I was told that my power steering pump was leaking. It appears to be the case. Is the $500 plus charge the cost of a new pump and install or is that the cost of instaloling new seals and gaskets. Is this something I could due myself? I have rebuilt car motors and carbs but never attempted a powersteering pump rebuild.

Hello,

If the pump itself is leaking then replacing the pump is the best option.
The pump replacement can be done in couple of hours depending on your comfort level.
In order to complete this task you will need a power steering pulley remover tool.
No worries, that tool is available to load out form your local parts store.
