truck starts and runs but no oil pressure is showing and it seems that it is not pumping any oil. This was all of a sudden and I'm wondering what could cause this. I'm thinking possibly oil pump or blocked uptake tube or filter

Hi:
When there is no pressure, are you hearing noise from the engine (knocking, ticking...)? If you are, it sounds like the oil pump, or yes it could be a plugged pick-up. The only way to tell is remove the oil pan.

If you have no knocking or tricking when the gage drops, have it checked with a pressure gauge. It hooks to the engine where the sending unit is. If this is the case, most likely you have a bad oil sending unit.
