How much should it cost to rebuild a transmission on a 97 Dodge Dakota, V6, 2 wheel drive truck. Assuming almost everything is damaged in the transmission.

A shop here in mississippi told me that to rebuild my tranny would cost about $1400, I declined, I drive it without the overdrive working and look on here to see if anyone has a simple or cheaper solution. Lee
