I thought I had a transmission issue due to problems going into and out of lockup, and in lockup between 45 - 60 mph the truck shakes or shudders. Tune up was done; injectors were checked and flushed; compressions are: #1 - 150, 2 - 140; 3 - 145; 4 - 140; 5 - 125; 6 - 130-110; 7 - 130-135; 8 - 140.

I'm told "valve lands" (thought they were seats) cannot be machined and I need remanufactured heads for #5 and #6. HELP!

I hope this helps someone: I'm told the 5.9 is prone to head cracking, so machining is a waste of time. Choose new (or reman) heads or go with another engine so the top & bottom have similar mileage (I chose an 82,000 mile engine). Good luck!

Problem found!!!

I was just about to pay for remanned heads but instead decided to replace the engine since the top end would be new and tight but everything else had 150,000 miles. Yales in Uncasville is great. They were the 6th place to look at my truck and they decided to try changing out the injector rails before swapping the engine. Despite injector cleaning, flushing, etc. during the previous tune-up, replacing the rails fixed it all.

If you end up with insufficient power to drive when the transmission goes into lockup, look first toward your fuel system. I hope this inexpensive fix helps someone:

new engine: 3500
used engine: 2000
remanned heads: 1850
injector rails (after other work): 200
