My truck failed smog; CO too high. Slightly over at 15mph and almost over at 25mph. The cat. is original. The truck seems to run ok but the fuel consumption was even higher than normal. Where to start?

first check to see if there are any engine codes that may be causing the problem. If not, change your oil and oil filter and air filter. Drive the truck about 10=15 miles on the eway and make sure it is good and warm. It will probably pass then..
