Very low gas mileage

2001 dodge stratus, 93,000 miles:
I used to drive 400 miles on a tank of gas. 3 months ago it went down to 320. And it seems over nite I am lucky to get 160 mile on 1 tank! I have no clue what to do. Some suggest a simple tune up. I don't want to spend money fixing whats not broke. Thanks for your help.

I would start by checking the air filter. Clogged filter will cause lost mileage. Tune-up can't hurt either.

I think more of maintainence. Obd2 or 96' n up car usually skip tune up. Maintainence is part of owning a car thats more than 30 k miles & more. If the wear & tear items already sub-standard n u have problems underneath. Can ur mechanic charge more for extra obstacles. I don't wanna pay taxes neither. Wish & needs are 2 different thing.
