I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl 2.4 with 135,000 miles. It stalls each time I turn the wheel while in idle either in park or with the transmission engaged. If I apply gas it does not stall. A day after this started the check engine light came on. Any clues?

Sounds like it could be the Idla Air Control Valve. It adjusts idle, and the PCM can see the load of the p/s pump and should adjust idle accordingly

Is this the AAS motor? And How much of a job is it for someone who does not have a ton of experience under the hood but is very patient?

Turned out to be the PCM, or at least that is what the error code said. P0601. Is there really a way to wipe out the stored codes by disconnecting the negative terminal and holding the ignition for 20 seconds? Is it even worth the effort?
