97 Stratus STARTED CHUGGING

JUST GOT THE OIL CHANGED, AND ABOUT 200 MILES LATER, IT STARTED RUNNING POORLY- CHUGGING, IDLE ROUGH, FAINT SMELL OF FLUID.
130756 ON THE ODOMETER, AND I SAW THAT THERE HAS BEEN OIL LEAKING FROM AROUND THE PCV VALVE- NO INDICATOR LIGHTS OR OTHER WARNINGS. PLEASE ADVISE BEFORE I TAKE IT IN. THANK YOU!

When was the last major tune-up?

Could be a problem on the idle air control motor, throttle position sensor, Manifold Asolute Pressure sensor and fuel pressure.

I'M SURE IT WAS SOME TIME AGO, IT'S MY GIRLFRIENDS CAR- GOT IT FROM HER PARENTS A COUPLE YEARS AGO. I KNOW IT WENT OVER ON THIS LAST OIL CHANGE.- IT WAS DUE IN AUGUST- I THOUGHT HER DAD ALREADY TOOK IT IN, BUT NOPE. WOULDN'T AN ENGINE LIGHT COME ON FOR ANY OF THOSE YOU LISTED? THANKS.

Its very unpredictable whether it'll show up in the computer causing it to trigger the check engine light. When I troubleshoot I scan the computer left and and right before I start turning wrenches. This the start of the diagnosis.

You can do this get it scanned for codes at autozone.

For a start have the fuel pressure check and comeback with the readings.

TOOK IT BACK TO OIL CAN H TODAY, THEY REPLACED THE PCV VALVE, AND REDID THE OIL CHANGE- STILL BAD BUT NOT AS BAD- THE TECH IN THE PIT SAID IT LOOKED LIKE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BAD- LIKE A HOLE IN IT - AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID GO ON TODAY WHEN I STARTED IT UP. NEXT STOP, MECHANIC. THESE NEWER CARS ARE A BITCH TO WORK ON AT HOME- I COULD NOT EVEN START - BUT ON MY 94 SHADOW I HAVE SAVED HUNDREDS IN MAINTANENCE W/ A CHILTONS BOOK. I'LL TAKE ANY OTHER ADVICE- AND THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
