For the last couple of months, my car has been making noises when I hit bumps, turn, stop or anything. I thought it could possibly be my brakes, but like I said, it's not just when I stop. It also makes it when I take my foot of the brake. The sound almost sounds like rusty metal rubbing together or something. I usually ask my dad to drive it if I think something is wrong, but he is out of town and I don't want to take it to a repair shop unless I know there is nothing I can do to fix the problem. Any advice???

The squeaking noise that you are hearing is most likely brake related if this is a rubbing type noise. It could just be the brake pads getting low and the wear indicators are rubbing the rotors.

However, if this doesn't make the noise just driving straight as well but you have to hit a bump or some other action then I suspect we have a suspension related issue.

Here are a couple guides that will help with these issues:

Based on experience with this vehicle, I suspect this is just a worn-out strut so we need to inspect them for any moisture or even remove them and see if you can compress them by hand. If so, then they are needing to be replaced.

I am attaching the info below on how to replace these shocks.

Please run through this info and we can go from there. Thanks
