2003 Dodge Stratus Oil light comes on when car is in idle

My oil light will come on after the car is hot but it only comes on when I'm at a stop and the car is in idle.
Any suggestions. I've heard everything from the motor is about ready to blow up to it needs a new oil sending unit.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings
