2002 Dodge Stratus windshield spray nozzle replacement

2002 Dodge Stratus

I am trying to install a new windshield spray nozzle on the hood of the car. I realize they are meant to fit tight to prevent slipping and moving. But I can't seem to get it installed without potentially denting the hood. Any suggestions....

are the ones your trying to install the aftermarket one size fits all from autozone???? if so, they always give problems.... short of removing the padding underneath the hood and drilling bigger holes, they usually never work right.... stock replacement=less headache
