2002 Dodge Stratus Sputtering ilde

The car started dying out when decelerating and at stop lights. Also noticed the exhaust smells and seems smokier. There's a bit of a lag when pushing on the gas while parked. On the way home had to shift to N and rev up to keep from dying out. Due for plugs and wires, which is what I would've thought at first, but the exhaust throws me off.
The coolant level fine. The smoke is white.
