i was going to buy a used transmission to replace mine but i have no clue what t look for . a friend told me tht i could get one that had come from a different type of car. can you tell me what other kinds of cars use transmissions like mine or a site i can go to to find out. i know i should have it rebuilt or buy a new one but at the moment i just cant afford it. thanks for any help with this.

It is probably a 41TE, if this is a 4-door.
2-door is likely a F4A42.

Check the local junkyards for it. They have the books to provide the interchange between vehicles. This would be the logical place to buy a used unit.

IF you call the dealer with the last nine digits of the VIN, they can verify what you have.
