2001 Dodge Stratus Cam seals leaking

What would couse the cam seals to leak so suddenly that my car won't start? And I haven't noticed any oil leaks before towing it into the mechanic. What can I do to prevent this?

Im not so sure that leaking cam seals will keep the car from starting unless they soaked the timing belt so bad it broke.or let out enough oil that the engine or cam journals locked up
