1999 dodge stratus 85301k miles

I suddenly heard a knocking noise on my car, under the hood.I took it to a shop. told the motor is going. I have bottom engine problems. My queastion is what does this mean.

sorry to say if you have a rod bearing making noise its usually non repairable as one rod bearing fails it sends metal throughout the oiling system causing damage to other interal parts and if the bearing spins it cuts off the oil to the other rod bearings and essentially oil starvation

look at a new engine
