it is hard to turn the steering wheel to make turns from a stopped position

Start by checking your power steering system.
1. Have enough fluid?
2. PS belt has the correct tension?
3. Does it make any noise when you turn the steering wheel?
4. Does your idle speed change when you turn the wheel?
