For about seven months my car has been stalling occasionally, but it is getting worse. Recently a water leak formed and I changed the water pump, also when I did that replaced the timing belt and tension-er. When it stalls there dose not seem to be any specific trigger. It might do it at idle or when I am going sixty. Under power or when I am coasting. When not at idle it will usually recover and keep running if I put my foot down. It runs a little rough at idle but strong under power (when it is not stalling). The car is sending a P0106 error code. The car also got a new fuel pump a year ago. Please help.

That code is for the Baro/Map sensor, if it is going bad, it can definitely do the things you describe. Depending on what engine it should be located on the intake manifold.

Ten years later and here I am replying about this same car and issue. Did your check engine light stay on, or did it flash when it tried to stall out? Mine comes up for a second and just turns off. I never seem to get a chance to get a code.

Hello.

This code is for the MAP sensor which could cause the problem. Another thing that comes to mind is a bad catalytic converter which could have failing part and sometimes blocking the exhaust. Please run down this guide and diagrams below to help find the problem.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken
