1998 Dodge Stratus Automatic

Well my dodge stratus started smoking one day and i don't know what it is. My car still runs and it doesn't over heat. I think my power steering fluid is leaking but i cant find were it goes. The smoke is coming from behind the engine. Now every time i turn it makes a sound. How do i fix this????

Hi there,

Top up the power steering and get the car into you mechanic for him to inspect any leaks from the steering system, i feel that the smoke i power steering oil burning on the exhaust, the noise on turning will be low oil in the pump.

I've been havng the same problem with my car, I've had the head gasket replaced and the Oil pan gasket replaced W/ oil change, and still smokes. My car runs fine and no noticible leak under car, fluid levels are good, I'm stumped.. But when I was resurching I found out that there is a recall for the high presure powersteering hose and I have an appointment to get that fixed for free by my local dodge dealership in morning. Think you should go to mydodge.com click for owners then enter VIN u may have a recall to just wondering what was the smoke from??
