Our car is having a problem with the heater working and fluid flowing from underneath. I bought a thermostat and I can't figure out where it goes. By the looks of it there is no thermostat.

I'm a little confused with your post:
Is your heater leaking on the floor inside the car?
If that is your problem, you need a new heater core not a new thermostat.
If you're trying to replace the thermostat, it is inside the thermostat housing (where the upper hose hooks on the engine).
