1994 Dodge Stealth gas gauge

i just picked up this 94 dodge stealth. it has 219000 on the body and 50k on the engine but the gas gauge doesn't seem to work what do i do to test to see if its broken?

disconnect the fuel pump/sending unit harness and turn they key to on, whats the guage show?

ground out the signal wire in the harness toa good chassis ground and turn the key on, what does it show now?
