Recently I tried turning on my car and it appeared that it just died. Upon further investigation it looked like every time I would try to turn the ignition over to start the car something shorted out and the battery no longer was providing power to the car. I did not receive a clicking sound that is usually associated with a dead battery. All that happened was that everything shut off completely. However, when I pop the hood and look at the battery if I shake the positive wire connected to my battery all the power will come back on in my car until i try to turn the ignition over and then it dies again. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi:
Remove the battery terminal, clean the post and terminal and replace. Make sure the terminal is tight. My guess is there isn't a good connection.

Let me know what you find.

It looks like that fixed the problem. After close inspection of the terminals it looked like the ground cable was loose out of the terminal. I re crimped the terminal and everything seems to be working fine.

Hi:
I'm glad to hear it's fixed. One of my teachers always said when there is an electrical problem, you must start at the source of power, the battery. He was one of the best teachers I ever had, but has passed away. He had a lot of great lessons. My favorite, "DON'T FIX IT IF IT ISN"T BROKEN." LOL

If you have questions, let us know.
