i have a 1990 dodge ram charger that the speedometer doesnt work i pulled the gauge cluster out and there is no place for a speedometer cable in the speedometer does this year not have a mechanical speedometer? if not what do i need to do to make the speedometer work

Yes, it has a speed sensor. It can be on the trans or the transfer case. Here is a picture of it:
