I have a low grade humming noise coming from the truck while driving it when the truck is idle it sounds fine I have even acccelorated the rpms while idle and still no humming noise but once I get over 10mph I can hear it and it increases the faster I go but when I come to a stop light you can hear it decrease and stop once the truck is idle I can't tell whether its coming from the front or the back and ideas thanks

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated

I would start by having all the wheel hub bearings checked .. also if you have had new tires fitted recently, it could just be tire noise from the road surface

hope this helps

Hi,

That post is from 2010, so chances are you won't get a response. Is your vehicle the same year, make, and model? Also, explain what you are experiencing, if there is anything that changes the sound, and so on.

I join this group and sent in what the truck is doing. Maybe you did not see it.
2008 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4 wheel drive. 6.7.
We have
Changed the tires
Turned the rotors
New brakes ( needed them)
New wheel bearings
New AC compressor ( was new but leaking)
Currently checking u joints. Truck runs get only time we hear noise it when driving it starts around 8 mph. Does not do it when idling. Does not do it in reverse. 4 wheel drive shifts and engages great. No grinding or popping noises.

Even though the transfer case is working okay it can still have a bearing going out, I would put the truck on the rack and then raise it up and have someone inside to put the ruck in gear, then check out where the noise is coming from. Please upload videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with. Also, see if the front differential is turning in 2wd. It might be stuck in 4x4.
