when i'm sitting at the lights my rpms drop to 200 or sometimes 0 and other times it seam to work ok

Is the engine dieing, or is the problem only with the tach?

It could be a few things, a bad signal from the PCM, BCM, or a bad ground. Have you checked for bad or loose body grounds?

on the 2006 dodge ram the tact is closed all in and what ground wires are you talking about. i will also check the pcm and the bcm

There are body grounds that look like straps. They are usually held on with clips. Often, they rust or come loose.
