The 2 wheel drive in my Ram works fine & shifts fine between gears......When I use the floor shift to put it into 4 wheel drive, nothing happens.....No light on dash to tell me it's in 4 wheel drive....No noises what so ever....Any simple solutions that my mechanic can check or do I need to take it to a Transmission Shop ????

first, make sure the linkage is attached and working. Next, there is a vacuum switch on the front of the transfercase with 4 vacuum hoses going to it. Check if any of them are damaged or disconnected. Also, check for vacuum to the front axle.

Let me know what you find.
